A short history of Jane Eastland

Jane Eastland of Sterling Heights died peacefully at her home Friday, February 15, 2013. She was born December 2, 1924 in Nashville, Michigan the daughter of Dr. John Norman and Gladys (nee Greene) Eastland. Jane attended MSU graduating in 1947, earning a BA in Textiles and Related Arts. Jane was employed by Detroit Edison for 38 years beginning as an engineering clerk and ending as a computer analyst for the disaster recovery group. This was her favorite job because it involved documentation and research, which she loved. She was a member of the Detroit Edison Ski Club and Edison Golf Club. She retired from Detroit Edison in 1987. She loved downhill skiing during her younger years and cross country skiing during her more mature years. Jane was active in her church and belonged to the Pins and Needles Group. She enjoyed music, a wide variety of crafts, nature and her cabin in Grayling, MI. Jane is survived by her loving nieces Marianne (Timothy) LeVigne and Jeanne (Ian) Paton and nephews James (Bob Pesavento) Garrett and Paul Garrett. Sister-in-law of Wayne Garrett. Along with her parents she was predeceased by her two sisters Virginia Louise Garrett and Joan Gladys Eastland.
